Social Services Intern I
OFFICE: The Bridge                     
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
SALARY: Unpaid

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Intern is responsible for assisting the social services department in providing services to homeless guests in need. 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist care management staff in providing effective and timely assistance to guests of the Bridge. 
  2. Become familiar with community resources for the chronically homeless.
  3. Help assemble welcome packets and process data entry to assist care management staff.
  4. Attend support groups offered by care managers.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  1. An interest in homeless issues; a passion MDHA’s mission.
  2. A willingness to attend training to develop skill and proficiency.
  3. Ethical behavior and confidentiality are a must in this position.
  4. Must be willing to report hours of service and activities on a regular basis.

Social Services Intern II
OFFICE: The Bridge                     
REPORTS TO: Program Manager 
SALARY: Unpaid

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Intern is responsible for assisting the social services department in providing services to homeless guests in need. 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist care management staff in providing effective and timely assistance to guests of the Bridge. 
  2. Become familiar with community resources for the chronically homeless.
  3. Help assemble welcome packets and process data entry to assist care management staff.
  4. Attend support groups offered by care managers.
  5. Shadow an experienced care manager to develop understanding of homelessness.
  6. Maintain a small caseload of four homeless guests/clients.
  7. Assist with moving guests into permanent supportive housing.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  1. An interest in homeless issues; a passion MDHA’s mission.
  2. A willingness to attend training to develop skill and proficiency.
  3. Ethical behavior and confidentiality are a must in this position.
  4. Computer proficiency is a must.

Community Affairs Intern
OFFICE: The Bridge                     
REPORTS TO: Community Affairs Director

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Intern is responsible for assisting the community affairs director in

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  1. Respond to volunteer inquiries from the community.
  2. Become familiar with community resources for the chronically homeless.
  3. Assist with the recruitment, retention and recognition of volunteers at The Bridge under the direction of the community affairs director.
  4. Assist with supporting and developing educational and recreational opportunities for homeless guests.
  5. Assist with the monthly creation of a newsletter for staff and community partners.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  1. An interest in homeless issues; a passion MDHA’s mission.
  2. A willingness to attend training to develop skill and proficiency.
  3. Ethical behavior and confidentiality are a must in this position.

Operations Intern 
OFFICE: The Bridge                     
REPORTS TO: Program Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Intern is responsible for assisting the guest services department in providing services to homeless guests in need. 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist guest services staff in providing effective and timely assistance to guests of the Bridge. 
  2. Become familiar with community resources for the chronically homeless.
  3. Support Guest services staff by working in one or more of the following areas:  storage, mail room, reception, pavilion, courtyard, and laundry.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  2. A willingness to attend training to develop skill and proficiency.
  3. Ethical behavior and confidentiality are a must in this position.

Housing Coordinator
The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance (MDHA), a membership organization focused on homelessness & housing in Dallas, Texas, is seeking an experienced professional to help coordinate the Continuum of Care process for Dallas & Collin Counties. Responsibilities include planning the annual Homeless Count & Census, monitoring CoC projects (including HMIS) for compliance with HUD and CoC goals, and providing information & support for MDHA Members.

This full-time position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, plus six years of program coordination and/or management; or Master’s Degree, plus four years program coordination and/or management. Successful applicants must demonstrate knowledge of homeless issues, government grants / contracts, excellent verbal and written skills, ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Must possess driver’s license and reliable transportation. The homeless population in Dallas is diverse and includes persons of all races, religions, and ethnicities. Provide coordinated support and care for the Bridge clients, including intake, assessment, placement and referrals.
